Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Mine Engineer oversees activities related to engineering functions. Ensures service and operating guidelines are followed. Provides input into the design and development of processes, procedures, and practices in engineering that support optimized mining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in engineering.
  • Production of mine designs including drill blast, mine planning and geotechnical.
  • Monitor pit phase designs and short term mine plans.
  • Develop monthly and weekly plans by coordinating activities and making adjustments where necessary.
  • Coordination with surveying.
  • Ensure that pit designs are effectively implemented in the field.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and all mine plans.
  • Oversee the survey and drilling/blasting activities to coordinate and prioritize the planning goals.
  • Evaluate short term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with operational objectives.
  • Monitor the work of mining activities by reviewing the state of progress on compliance plans and specifications issued and analyzing the results of completed work.
  • Provide communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to systems, programs, or technical issues.
  • Research data to support decision making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies.
  • Keep current with trends related to mind design and integrate this information into work assignments and methodology.
  • Create highly operational mine plans and designs.  Support operations relentlessly in achieving these plans.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering required.
  • 5 to 8 years of mine operations/engineering experience required.
  • Professional Engineer (PEng) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software, Deswik, and relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in leading engineer projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
  • Strong interpersonal with both oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Start up and production experience an asset.
