Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, the Senior Mine Geologist is responsible for overseeing activities related to the modelling and examination of geological data or processes. They ensure operating guidelines are followed. They institute procedures, practices, and techniques in the geology function.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Grade control and geological modelling.
  • Supervise and execute geological analysis and modeling.
  • Control costs with respect to mine geology and maximize efficiencies by implementing approved recommendations.
  • Recommend alternative procedures, methods and policies to improve performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures with respect to geology
  • Stay current with mine geology trends and introduce any new information into work assignments.
  • Assign tasks to less experienced employees and provide direction and guidance on complex issues.
  • Analyze data and issues with respect to geological modeling and grade control.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements.
  • Ensure the reconciliation of mine with mill data, and mine with reserve and resource data.
  • Provide assistance in the training and skill development with regards to technical issues of mine geology.
  • Relay information with regard to ground control and other geologically related issues.
  • Communicate information on operating guidelines, compliance regulations and policies.
  • Stewardship and support related to mining dilution.
  • Manage grade control drilling program.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in geology required.
  • 5 to 8 years of related experience required.
  • Proficient in geological modeling software and other relevant tools.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in start up open pit mine considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of geological principles, ore deposit types, and mineralization processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
  • Strong interpersonal with both oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
