Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Manager – Capital Projects Earthworks, the Superintendent - Capital Projects is responsible for overseeing planning, execution, and completion of various capital projects aimed at developing, expanding, and optimizing mining infrastructure. You will lead earthworks project teams, oversee project budgets, and schedules, and ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time and fit for purpose.

 

Location: Blackwater Mine Site - located 160km southwest of Prince George, BC. 

 

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

·         Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.

·         Lead the planning, organization, and execution of capital projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with project objectives, stakeholder requirements, and regulatory standards.

·         Provide strong leadership and direction to project teams. including engineers, contractors/consultants, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

·         Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.

·         Provide input to project budgets, forecasts, and schedules in coordination with project stakeholders.

·         Monitor projects expenditures, resource allocations, and progress against established milestones to adherence to budgetary and timeline constraints.

·         Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

·         Ensure compliance with contractual terms, specifications, and performance requirements throughout the project life cycle.

·         Assist with supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.

·         Review, understand and implement the BWG Management Plans as they relate to construction with a specific focus on environmental compliance.

 

Qualifications

·         10+ years of experience in earthworks construction, preferably in a mining setting, with a proven track order of successfully delivering capital projects.

·         Strong understanding of mine site tailings storage facilities and water management structures.

·         Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate multidisciplinary project teams.

·         Experience in managing large scale capital projects from inception to completion to ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

·         Sound understanding of mining operations, processes, and regulatory requirements with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable project plans and deliverables.

·         Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation

·         Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team

·         Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift

·         Comprehensive understanding of mining operations, processes, and equipment with specific knowledge of capital project requirements, including construction, installation, commissioning, activities

·         Familiarity with engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to mining projects.

·         In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, techniques, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

·         Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate project updates, risk, and opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.

·         Commitment to safety excellence and the ability to promote a strong safety culture within the project team and across project sites.

·         Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, with a focus on optimizing project processes, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving value-added incentives
