Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer/Senior Mine Planner, the Mine Planner oversees activities related to mine planning functions, ensures service and operating guidelines are followed, and provides input into the design and development of processes, procedures, and practices in the field of mine engineering that support optimized mining operations.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds’ safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Develop robust daily and weekly mine plans which clearly communicate operational requirements, identify opportunities and contingencies.
  • Generate pit and dump development designs and implement into short term mine plans.
  • Communicate pit and dump designs to operations and support effective field execution.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in mine engineering.
  • Conduct performance monitoring inspections of pits, dumps, stockpiles, haul roads, drill patterns and other mine facilities, as required.
  • Prepare routine performance monitoring inspection reports and summarize findings of inspections.
  • Perform QC audits of mine contractors and mine operational activities and report on findings.
  • Lead routine coordination meetings and communicate opportunities for day-to-day operational improvements.
  • Support the survey team by providing accurate design data and drawings.
  • Facilitate month-end volumetric reconciliation process with survey team.
  • Perform fleet management system audits and present continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of medium term mine plans and annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Support the survey and drilling/blasting activities to coordinate and prioritize the planning goals.
  • Monitor mine operations activities by reviewing the rate of progress and compliance to plan key performance metrics.
  • Provide engineering support to capital projects around the site as required.
  • Research and review operating data to support decision making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies.
  • Support routine reporting cadence through written documents, excel workbooks, business intelligence systems, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline, required.
  • 3 to 5 years of mine operations/technologist/engineering experience required.
  • Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software, such as Deswik, and relevant engineering tools.
  • Experienced with open pit survey methods, systems, and processes.
  • Strong user of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in driving engineering projects.
  • Team player that can quickly generate productive working relationships and can influence others.
  • Excellent organizational skills with excessive attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with high interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using Power BI and Power Query.
  • Experience generating power automate workflows.
  • Experience using VBA scripts to automate excel based work processes.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Open pit precious metals operational experience an asset.
