Overview

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Superintendent - Mine Engineering, the Senior Mine Engineer oversees activities related to the Mine Operations engineering. The Senior Mine Engineer ensures service and operating guidelines are followed, provides input into the design and development of processes, procedures, and practices in engineering that support optimized mining operations.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds’ safety standards, procedures, and systems.
  • Supervise the short-range planning, drill and blast and survey functions
  • Develop robust weekly and 3-month plans which clearly communicate operational requirements, identify opportunities, risks, constraints, and contingencies.
  • Contribute to the development of annual operating plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Align weekly and 3-month mine plans with annual budgets, forecasts, and Life-of-Mine Plans to ensure operational consistency.
  • Lead the month-end reporting process and coordinate resources to efficiently close each month.
  • Drive the optimization of pit and dump designs and monitor field execution.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures in mine engineering.
  • Maintain routine performance monitoring and QC inspection reports for various mine facilities to drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate fleet management system audits, maintenance and present continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate short term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with strategic operational objectives.
  • Perform technical analysis and identify opportunities for enhancements to operational and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior technical services team members to improve mine engineering models, practices, and planning integration.
  • Keep current with trends related to the field of mine engineering and survey and integrate this information into work assignments and methodology.
  • Supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Support planning and execution of special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline, required.
  • 5 to 8 years of open pit mine operations/engineering experience, required.
  • Open pit precious metals operational experience an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software, Deswik, and relevant engineering tools.
  • Experienced with open pit survey methods, systems, and processes.
  • Strong user of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in leading engineer projects.
  • Team player that can quickly generate productive working relationships and can influence others.
  • Excellent organizational skills with excessive attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with high interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential information.
  • Experience using Power BI and Power Query is preffered.
  • Experience generating power automate workflows is preffered. 
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
