Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction. 

 

Reporting to the Supervisor – Mining, the Haul Truck Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in hauling materials, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to project specifications.

 

Location: Blackwater Mine Site 

 

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Operate Caterpillar 793 and 785 haul truck transporting raw material from the mine.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials, following safety protocols and project specifications.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify and address mechanical issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the project team to plan and coordinate hauling activities according to project timelines.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Complete daily logs, reports, and documentation as required by company policies and project specifications.
  • Follow established procedures for equipment operation and maintenance to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and other company initiatives to promote a culture of safety.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience operating haul truck or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license 
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of hauling equipment.
  • Experience running graders, dozers, and loaders in a mining environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Physical fitness and stamina for prolonged periods of outdoor work and heavy equipment operation.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Be prepared to actively participate in positive and safe working atmosphere
  • OFA 3 and/or Mine Rescue Certification would be an asset
  • Ability to stay alert and pay attention to detail during all hours and weather conditions
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to safely climb and access equipment, as well as lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work night shift.
