The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the safe handling, storage, retrieval, and preservation of the Owner’s project materials and equipment. This includes managing the loading, unloading, staging, and proper documentation of goods. The role is central to ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse and laydown yard activities, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and adherence to BW Gold's procedures.

• Escorting and advising inbound transportation on road safety and communication protocols, ensuring full compliance with BW Gold's operational policies and procedures.
• Staging, unloading, and loading trucks within designated laydown yards, ensuring safe and orderly operations.
• Safely operating equipment and completing mandatory daily equipment inspections and safety walkarounds.
• Performing accurate receiving functions, including verifying freight, identifying any overages, shortages, or damages (OS&D), and initiating relevant documentation.
• Collecting and managing all associated shipping documents—such as packing slips, bills of lading, and customs papers—while maintaining both hard copy records and digital entries using Excel.
• Coordinating all shipping, receiving, storage, and retrieval activities in alignment with site needs, including timely notification to discipline supervisors and Accounts Payable.
• Promoting and demonstrating a strong safety culture in all activities in accordance with BW Gold’s safety standards.
• Assisting in the development and organization of laydown yards, including implementing a logical materials locating system.
• Ensuring all Owner assets are securely handled, stored, and preserved in accordance with prescribed protocols.
• Managing off-site removals and generating corresponding shipping documentation.
• Assembling area work packages based on incoming materials and facilitating accurate material handover to contractors, supported by proper documentation and logs.
• Loading construction materials and equipment onto contractor trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Organizing and maintaining cold/warm storage warehouse areas and overall laydown yard housekeeping.
• Obtaining (or being willing to obtain) TDG and WHMIS certifications.
• Applying knowledge of mining and industrial construction environments; familiarity with mine process equipment is an asset.
• Conducting inventory cycle counts and supporting inventory accuracy by resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Directing materials to designated laydown zones and ensuring all items are properly binned and located.
• Monitoring outstanding vendor purchase orders and escalating potential supply delays that may impact project timelines or costs.
• Following proper receiving protocols for lost, damaged, or misrouted materials and implementing corrective actions.
• Supporting safe hoisting, rigging, and lifting practices in all material handling operations.
• Liaising with contractors and providing ongoing support to the BW Gold capital projects team.
• Assisting with warehouse development tasks, including the assembly of racking, shelving, and general infrastructure setup.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment across warehouse and laydown areas.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in warehousing, material handling, and expediting, preferably in mining or industrial construction settings.
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for managing inventories and shipping documentation.
• Prior knowledge of mining and process equipment is considered a significant asset.
• TDG and WHMIS certifications (or a willingness to obtain them).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy, organization, and compliance under a dynamic site-based rotation schedule.
