Overview

Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing, the Operator - Gold Room is responsible for operating all gold recovery and refining sections of the Processing Plant, along with the day to day running of the gold room. This also includes basic maintenance of operational equipment within the nominated areas. Strict compliance of all site security requirements, for the safe and secure handling of gold bullion. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • The operation of the gold recovery processes according to process parameters and control limits in accordance with documented safe work procedures.
  • Coordinate elution and intensive leaching with control room, CIL and grinding operators.
  • Perform the operation of electrowinning, sludge pressure washing/filtration/drying, sludge flux mixing/smelting and bar pouring etc.
  • Conduct sampling, weighing, and documenting sludge, dore and other by-products to ensure accurate records on log sheet and inventory management.
  • Transport and handle bullion and other refining by-products safely and efficiently, adhering to established protocols and safety procedures.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas in the Gold Room to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment.
  • Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements to maintenance personnel.
  • Work for other assigned tasks or circuits based on the operation requirements and gold room schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 year's relevant experience in the mining industry in a gold processing plant
  • Previous experience in a gold room operation
  • Basic knowledge of electrowinning, metal melting and fluxing is preferred
  • Cyanide safety awareness and related hazards analysis/identification is an asset.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Excel & pdf converting etc.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to work night shift.
