Reporting to the Supervisor of Infrastructure, the HDPE Fusion Technician is responsible for the fusion of HDPE & FPVC pipelines in both maintenance and project environments across the site.

 

Location: Blackwater Mine site

 

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Performs HDPE and FPVC fusion welding, including but not limited to butt, socket , and electrofusion welding ensuring compliance to appropriate standards and procedures to maintain system integrity and optimal performance.
  • Performing fire hydrant repairs, as well as other mechanical work on water and wastewater systems.
  • Inspect and prepare pipe, fittings, and equipment for fusion.
  • Ensure safe and effective operation of fusion equipment, including calibrations and maintenance.
  • Collaborates with municipal and industrial supervisors to interpret and clarify job specifications.
  • Occasionally undertakes other related duties to support the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Certification in HDPE fusion (e.g., McElroy, electrofusion, or other industry-recognized certifications) is required.
  • 5+ years of proven experience as an HDPE Fusion Technician or in a similar role within the pipeline, construction and maintenance industries.
  • Butt Fusion welding of large bore piping experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Operating backhoe, skid steer, telehandler and loader are considered an asset.
  • Intermediate math skills and basic computer literacy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Problem-solving skills.
