As the Junior Accountant, you will play a vital role in supporting the accounting team at our Prince George office. Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, you will assist with financial processes, gain hands-on experience in the mining industry, and contribute to the disciplined development of the Blackwater Mine.
• Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end financial reporting tasks to meet reporting deadlines.
• Support monthly reconciliations of commitments, costs, and subledger-to-general ledger accounts under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.
• Enter and verify data related to progress claims and contract progress certificates for month-end reporting.
• Help maintain the fixed asset register by recording additions, disposals, and depreciation entries.
• Conduct basic analysis of month-end costs, comparing budget, commitments, and actuals, and escalate discrepancies to the Intermediate or Senior Accountant.
• Provide transactional support for warehouse inventory, including data entry and integrity checks, as directed.
• Respond to basic cost inquiries from mine site departments, assisting with spend and budget reconciliations as needed.
• Support the Senior Accountant and Intermediate Accountant with ad hoc reporting and tasks, such as compiling data for construction expenditure reviews.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records to facilitate audits and compliance with company policies.
• Participate in training and mentorship provided by senior team members to build accounting skills and industry knowledge.
