Reporting to the Superintendent – Mobile Maintenance, the Supervisor – Mobile Maintenance, Welding is responsible for overseeing welding operations and ensuring the structural integrity of mining equipment and infrastructure through effective welding practices. This role involves supervising a team of welders and fabricators, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime. Although this is a supervisory role, it will be a very ‘hands-on’ position. The incumbent will lead from the front and will be heavily involved in practical fabrication and welding on site.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds’ safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
• Supervise day-to-day welding operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.
• Provide direction and support to welding technicians, including job assignments, training, and performance feedback.
• Act as backfill for the Execution Supervisor when required, ensuring continuity in operations and decision-making.

• Develop, implement, and standardize bucket inspection procedures and work scopes, ensuring consistency and clarity across maintenance activities.
• Make informed decisions on repair strategies, including determining:
   -What can be executed in-house with existing resources
   -What should be outsourced to local vendors based on cost, complexity, or lead time.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, and Procurement teams to optimize work packages and support equipment reliability.
• Support the development and maintenance of welding procedures, specifications, and quality standards in compliance with industry codes and best practices.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality assurance protocols.
• Track and report on welding performance metrics and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed.
• Participate in resource planning and workforce development to ensure adequate skill coverage across shifts.

Qualifications

• Certified Welder or Welding Inspector (CWI) Preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a welding/fabrication supervisory role, ideally within heavy industry, mining, or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work scopes.
• Familiarity with safety and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, ASME, AWS standards).
• Proficient in using CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with GET and mining bucket design would be a major advantage.
• Familiarity with CAT welding and fabrication procedures highly desirable.
