Reporting to the Supervisor – Processing, the Mill Operator Lead hand is responsible for assisting with the technical activities of the process operation teams. Ensures that all processing plant production targets and schedules are met as forecasted within the guidelines of the Process Supervisor. Ensures the Process Supervisor is aware all mill activities are performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policies.

 

Location: Blackwater Mine site

 

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Ensure that plant processing, and production targets are met as forecast.
  • Inform the plant operation team of production goals, schedules and priorities.
  • Establish, coordinate and direct all work assignments for hourly and contract workers.
  • Arrange for contract support for the plant operation team when required.
  • In the case of equipment failure, ensure there is replacement equipment available.
  • Take an active role in the employment and development of the plant operation team.
  • Ensure effective management of staff by setting clear performance goals, providing regular feedback and development through training.
  • Ensure direct reports are developed, trained and coached to obtain optimum efficiencies.
  • Ensure direct reports are assisted to achieve their full potential.
  • Resolve any employee relations issues that may arises.
  • Assist with supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education proof.
  • More than 6 years of processing plant operation or milling experience.
  • More than 2 years of supervisory experience in mineral processing plant environment.
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.

     

  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.

     

  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift.

     

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.

     

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

     

  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.

     

  • Ability to lead teams.

     

  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.

     

  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.

  • Ability to prepare accurate records and reports using computer.
