Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Development Supervisor is responsible for safely achieving drilling, blasting and dewatering targets. Sharing resources, they will work together in parallel with the Mine Production Supervisor to safely achieve the drilling, blasting and dewatering deliverables.
Location: Blackwater Mine Site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
• Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
• Plan, organize and control activities related but not limited to Drilling, Blasting and Dewatering.
• Ensure that drilling, explosives loading and dewatering targets, schedules and priorities are achieved.
• Pro-actively managing resources & reducing waste to keep costs as low as possible.
• Maintain safety and environmental systems consistent with business policies.
• Regularly tour and inspect the mine to identify and address any safety, production, personnel, equipment, or maintenance issues.
• Provide assistance in the recruitment process.
• Provide clear work objectives and expectations to the workforce.
• Confer with Human Resources to manage employee performance.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
• Complete all time entry, vacation request and scheduling for direct reports.
• Assist with supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Valid BC Mine Supervisor Certificate required.
• Valid BC Shiftboss Certificate required.
• Minimum 5 years open pit mining supervisory experience leading teams of over 30.
• Previous experience in operating various equipment preferred.
• Experience reading and interpreting mine plans.
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of mining procedures & Safe Work Instructions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
• Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
• Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
