Reporting to the General Manager, the Manager – Operations Special Projects is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing operations focused projects, including processing plant upgrades and infrastructure improvements at the mine site. This is a multidisciplinary role focused on delivering projects to operations that improve the overall safe production delivered. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with operational objectives. The manager will work closely with engineering, processing, and maintenance teams to identify and implement strategic improvements that enhance production efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Champion a strong safety culture through visible felt leadership and ensuring compliance with BW Gold’s safety systems and BC mining and environmental legislation.
Lead the identification and assessment of potential operations projects, working with operations leadership, conducting risk assessments, and financial analysis to determine viability and ensure alignment of projects with long-term operational and expansion strategies.
Lead the development and delivery of operations projects.
Ability to execute complete project management scope from project identification to delivery.
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to evaluate project and improvement opportunities. Focus is currently on processing facility and site infrastructure but could involve any aspects around the mine site.
Develop and manage project scopes, timelines and budgets, monitor expenditures, and control costs.
Delivery high quality operational improvements that operate at or above nameplate upon delivery.
Establish project milestones, key performance indicators (KPIs), and metrics to measure progress.
Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Identify potential risks and challenges associated with project development, implementing risk mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on project timelines and budgets.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Operations Project Team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permitting requirements throughout the project development process.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and government agencies to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals in a timely and efficient manner.
Manage contractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Oversee commissioning and handover of completed projects to operations teams
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field. Mechanical, Electrical, Process, an asset.
15+ years of experience in operations and projects management, with a focus on fixed plant, processing facilities and site infrastructure. 5+ years of leadership experience.
Proven track record of successfully leading project teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Familiarity with BC mining regulations and environmental compliance standards.
Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
PMP or equivalent project management certification is an asset.
