Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Short Range Mine Planner oversees activities related to mine planning functions. Ensures service and operating guidelines are followed. Provides input into the design and development of processes, procedures, and practices in the field of mine engineering that support optimized mining operations.

 

Location: Blackwater Mine Site

 

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in mine engineering.
  • Production of mine designs including drill & blast, mine planning and geotechnical.
  • Generate pit and dump phase designs and implement into short term mine plans.
  • Communicate pit and dump designs to operations and support effective field implementation.
  • Develop weekly and daily plans by coordinating activities and adjusting where necessary.
  • Coordinate with survey team by providing accurate design data and drawings.
  • Facilitate month-end volume reconciliation process with survey team.
  • Conduct routine performance monitoring inspections of pits, dumps, stockpiles, and other regulated mine site facilities.
  • Prepare routine performance monitoring inspection reports and summarize findings of inspections.
  • Perform fleet management system audits and support dispatchers with data corrections.
  • Contribute to the preparation of all short range mine plans and annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Support the survey and drilling/blasting activities to coordinate and prioritize the planning goals.
  • Evaluate short term mine plans to ensure they are consistent with operational objectives.
  • Monitor the work of mining activities by reviewing the state of progress and compliance to plan key performance metrics.
  • Provide engineering support to capital and sustaining projects around the site as required.
  • Provide communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to systems, programs, or technical issues.
  • Research operating data to support decision making and improve procedures, technologies, or methodologies.
  • Support reporting initiatives through written documents, excel tables, Power BI dashboards
  • Create operational mine plans and designs.  Support operations relentlessly in achieving the mine plan.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine or Civil Engineering required.
  • 3 to 5 years of mine operations/engineering experience required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Eligible to register as a Professional Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) required.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software, such as Deswik, and relevant engineering tools.
  • Experienced with open pit survey methods, systems, and processes.
  • Strong user of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in leading engineering projects.
  • Team player that can quickly generate productive working relationships and can influence others
