Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation
Employment Type: Permanent
Reporting to the Supervisor – Infrastructure, the Operator – Waste & Potable Water is responsible for the safe and effective operation of site wastewater and potable water systems.
In the wastewater function, the Operator oversees treatment stages including screening, aeration, settling, and sludge handling, ensuring biological and chemical processes effectively remove contaminants prior to discharge. In the potable water function, the Operator monitors and controls water intake from wells and maintains appropriate disinfection levels, ensuring sufficient chlorine is present to eliminate pathogens while remaining within safe limits for consumption.
Water Treatment Operator Responsibilities
• Operate treatment systems to produce safe drinking water
• Monitor water quality (pH, chlorine, turbidity, etc.)
• Adjust chemical dosing and treatment processes
• Inspect and maintain pumps, filters, and equipment
• Collect samples and keep regulatory records
Wastewater Treatment Operator Responsibilities
• Operate systems that treat sewage and wastewater
• Monitor plant processes (flow, oxygen levels, sludge, etc.)
• Control and adjust treatment stages (aeration, settling, disinfection)
• Test wastewater quality at different stages
• Maintain equipment and respond to system issues
• Ensure treated water meets environmental discharge standards
• Previous experience in water and waste water treatment is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills.
Preferred Skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
• Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
• Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
• Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
