Reporting to the Superintendent – Health and Safety, the Supervisor - Safety is responsible for assisting with the development and operational health and safety teams, you will provide technical advice, support and coaching as well as playing a key leadership role in influencing line management in the fulfilment of their health and safety accountabilities.
Location: Blackwater Mine site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in mine-site health and safety.
Over five (5) years’ management or supervisory experience within the mining industry and sound understanding of the mining processes, along with the possession of knowledge of Health & Safety management systems and standards.
Experience in development and implementation of mine health and safety management system and its elements in collaboration and consultation with the key stakeholders.
Sound knowledge and understanding of the Mine Act and BC Health Safety Reclamation Code and experience interacting with the regulator.
Experience in conducting incident and accident investigation to improve workplace safety.
Superlative communication and presentation skills, particularly in presenting safety related, and project information in a concise and precise manner.
Natural leader with an ability to gain cooperation and support through discussion, negotiations, and persuasion.
• Self-starter who can when needed work autonomously, and alternatively thrives in a group dependent and interactive task environment.
• Professional Health and Safety Certifications (CRSP, CRST, CSP, etc.) is desirable but not necessary.
• Prior knowledge and/or experience in Industrial Hygiene and workplace ergonomics is favourable.
• Strong acumen across the Microsoft suite of software packages including SharePoint.
• Experience in cold weather development and operational activities and interactive task environment.
• Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
• Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.
• Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts.
• Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
