Reporting to the Manager – Health, Safety & Security, the Superintendent – Industrial Hygiene is responsible for leading the Industrial Hygiene program across the Blackwater Mine operation. This role provides strategic and operational oversight of occupational health programs, ensuring workplace health hazards are identified, assessed, monitored, and effectively controlled in accordance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

• Demonstrate strong safety leadership by promoting and adhering to BW Gold’s health, safety, and hygiene standards, procedures, and systems
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the site Industrial Hygiene Program
• Provide strategic direction for occupational hygiene, exposure monitoring, and health risk management activities across the operation
• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to Industrial Hygiene personnel, ensuring alignment with site objectives, regulatory requirements, and company standards
• Oversee occupational hygiene risk assessments and exposure assessments for chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards
• Direct workplace exposure monitoring programs, including dust, silica, noise, vibration, diesel particulate matter, welding fumes, metals, isocyanates, VOCs, heat stress, and indoor air quality
• Ensure effective collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of occupational hygiene data and exposure monitoring results
• Review and approve sampling strategies, chain-of-custody documentation, laboratory submissions, and technical reports
• Lead the development and implementation of exposure control plans and verify the effectiveness of mitigation measures
• Oversee ventilation management programs, indoor air quality assessments, confined space monitoring requirements, and related safe work procedures
• Ensure the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) program and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management system remain compliant and current
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to operations, maintenance, projects, and contractors regarding occupational health hazards and controls
• Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health management systems, standards, procedures, audit protocols, and inspection programs
• Lead occupational health investigations related to exposure incidents, employee concerns, and regulatory requirements
• Manage industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, calibration programs, maintenance schedules, and associated quality assurance processes
• Coordinate occupational health surveillance and medical monitoring programs in collaboration with medical service providers
• Develop and deliver occupational hygiene awareness, training, and competency programs
• Manage industrial hygiene consultants, contractors, laboratories, and external service providers
• Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, permits, and industry best practices
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual occupational health performance reports and recommendations to leadership
• Mentor and develop Industrial Hygiene personnel and support workforce competency development
• Support site-wide health, safety, environmental, and operational initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Hygiene, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Professional designation such as Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or eligibility to obtain certification preferred
• Minimum 10 years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably within mining, heavy industry, construction, or resource sectors
• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing industrial hygiene or occupational health programs and personnel
• Strong knowledge of occupational exposure assessment methodologies, workplace monitoring techniques, and exposure control strategies
• Experience conducting workplace monitoring for dust, noise, vibration, air contaminants, heat stress, and other occupational hazards
• Thorough understanding of occupational health legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
• Experience developing, implementing, and continuously improving industrial hygiene management systems and programs
• Experience managing consultants, contractors, and laboratory services
• Proficiency with industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, exposure data analysis, and reporting systems
• Previous experience in a mining environment is required, including experience working within a remote or camp-based operation
• Valid driver's licence required
